Systems Engineering

Systems Engineering is interdisciplinary and focuses on innovation in the architecture, methods, and techniques of computing systems. The research line works vertically in the integrated and intelligent engineering of hardware and software, addressing aspects such as process and method development, pattern recognition, machine learning, cybersecurity, and telecommunications. Challenges in this field include the complex relationships within computer science and engineering, involving hardware and software, which demand high-performance processing with big data, Internet of Things devices, cloud computing, and wired and wireless communication systems, applying process control and cybersecurity. Systems engineering is at the core of the research, development, and innovation ecosystem for smart cities and the fourth industrial revolution.
